Treatment Step by Step

Step 1
Consultation

Health assessment is performed by clinical provider: Risk factors, vital signs, weight. Assessment of clinical goals, Vectra H2 photography, body composition analysis, phlebotomy, discussion of risks and benefits for hormone replacement therapy

Patient is then examined in a sitting position and based on body anatomy and individual requirements the area for pellet placement is identified. Patient is placed on the procedure table facedown and the area for pellet placement is exposed, marked and prepped with Betadine. Local anesthetic is infiltrated and 10 minutes is allowed to lapse for adequate anesthesia and vasoconstriction.

Step 2
During Your Treatment

Pellets are placed into a pellet loading device. Usually for men anywhere between 3 and 6 (200 mg) pellets are required. For women, 1 or 2 pellets (100 mg) are usually placed through tiny incision.

Dressings include an occlusive dressing which should stay on for 3 days. There is usually no bleeding and only minimal post-procedure discomfort. Usually, I will include a testosterone “booster” at the time of the procedure to expedite onset of action.

Step 3
After the Treatment

This procedure takes 15-20 minutes, requires essentially no postoperative recovery however I will advise against swimming or prolonged water exposure within 48 hours to avoid incision contamination.
